Question:
Has any one ever heard of a air conditioner for a tent? We live in
south Florida and it is hot for the better part of the year. At night it
does not even fall into the 70's.
We would love to enjoy the outdoors but don't want to make the
huge investment in a rv which we many only use a few times a year. Has
any one heard of such a thing?
Answer:
Nothing specifically for a tent. However, there are some air
conditioners that are designed for apartment use that would do the
job. With these units, the AC sits in the room and the condensing
air is ducted to and from the outside through houses that can be
stuck out a window. This would do the job for your tent. They're
kinda expensive but if ya gotta stay cool....
Understand that you're not going to be able to do general
conditioning like you do at home. Too much heat load and too little
power available from a 120vac line. What you WILL be able to do is
direct a stream of cool onto people and will be able to remove some
humidity.
I believe Sharp makes these units.
