Question:
Does anyone here have any experience with ductless split system air
conditioners? Which brands/models are quiet/loud? Since these recycle
a room's internal air without introducing fresh air, how quickly would a
200 sq ft sealed studio room with 10 ft ceilings get really foul and
need some fresh air introduced? What about incorporating an air
purifier?
Answer:
I own the Tadiran units, which are now "carried"
by Carrier. (I put that in quotes because your
average Carrier dealer has no freaking idea what
these things are. Word to the wise -- repair is
hell. Then again, mine have just now started to
develop problems after 5+ years of heavy use, so
they're not THAT bad.)
Pretty quiet, too. I leave 'em on when tracking
anything except acoustic instruments and voice.
I haven't noticed too much problem with "stink",
but the studio door tends to be open a fair amount,
since the bathroom is out back (as in "the fence".)
