Air Conditioning

Question:
Is it possible to add a roof air conditioner? We just bought an older RV that only has an in-dash air conditioner. Does roof air require a generator or outside electrical? Can they be purchased used? Any tips on resources?

Answer:
You can add roof air to almost anything (car, truck, camper, trailer, etc). I wouldn't purchase a used unit for personal reasons. The cost of a new unit isn't that bad and the warranty and peace of mind are worth the extra few bucks. They are easy to install. They require AC power.
This can be supplied by a generator or shore power (campground). Prices start in the $550 range and go up.

Resources? Campworld, Campers Choice, Northern RV Direct, local RV parts stores, etc

you can check with places like Camping World
(1-800-626-5944). They install the unit for $5 with purchase. You can call this number for a free catalog. The roof ac units work much better than window units. They don't suffer from frosting up and are designed to stand up to bumps and shakes from traveling.
