Question:
I've got a portable air conditioner that has a 5 year warranty.
It's now the 4th year, thus, I've had 4 years of cool living.
Recently it started leaking water, and it was repaired once.
Now, it's doing it again, and the manufacturer is picking it
up in a few days to re-fix it.
So, what happens if this second fix doesn't work again?
Sure, I can get it fixed AGAIN, but what if this turns out to
be an on-going problem, to the point that the 5 year warranty
period ends? I can't claim the unit is a "lemon" because as
I said I've had 4 years of it working perfectly.
What would you do if it kept breaking down?
Answer:
I recently ran a fuel consumption test,
so I could gauge just how much fuel I need to store in case we have a major
power failure, as I am living in a cyclone area, in Australia, and in the
past there have been power failures up to 4 days during a cyclone because of
power line damage.
Anyway I loaded up the diesel with 5 small air conditioning units, one 2 HP
air conditioner plus a electric cooker and had a load of some 10 Kw, and I
was consuming around 3 litres of diesel an hour.
It would have been nice to load it up more and see what the fuel consumption
was, but as it was it is around what I would expect the maximum current draw
would be during a storm.
The large air conditioning compressor is not yet in service so could not be
used for the test.
