Personal Air Conditioner

Question:
I have yet to try it (waiting for it to be delivered) is the "sharper image" personal air conditioner. More expensive, bigger...but based on its design I have high hopes. It looks to be a
"swamp cooler" , where as there is a fan inside of it that blows through moisture (probabaly a big sponge or something inside). I've got a caming trip coming up, and this will be my only means of temperature controll so hopefully it works.

anyone ever try this product? anything else?

Answer:
Yes, I love when we share things that help. Heat is definitely my enemy.

I learned 10 years ago that ice cubes in a ziplock around my neck (touching each main artery) allowed me to be outdoors longer, and kept me from the
"heat hangover" (being exhausted and fluish for days afterward).

2 years ago I got the personal air conditioner you mention. It works. It is probably heavier than a small ice pack, but easier, since it stays on.
It has hinges and would be plenty large for a woman, it may feel snug on a man with a large neck. If a person keeps water (to keep resoaking the sponge inside) and plenty of batteries (keep the fan going), it can be a major blessing. It is quiet and can be worn even in church. When I wore mine to a family reunion, everyone wanted to try it.

(my cousin with MS was given one by the MS society in Utah)

It came with a something else - a tiny battery-operated fan that is good, also. And I always keep water to drink with me and for those times that I am really overheated, I sprinkle water on my face, hands, legs, arms, feet, and use the fan on them to cool down, also. The combination works wonders.

there is also a new air conditioned vest out, but it is expensive and large, so I haven't tried that yet.
