Mobile Air conditioning units

Question:
I have a mobile air conditioning unit with a 2m hose and need to vent it over a greater distance than the standard length. I would like to vent it via an old chimney stack but it doesn't seem to allow the hot air to escape. This results in the air con unit shutting off as it over heats.

My question is therefore, what is the correct method to vent it via the chimney?

Answer:
If the heated air collected by the A/c unit is extracted via a 2mtr hose within the air-conditioned space, you will be extracting air from your conditioned area, and the same amount of fresh air will have to be delivered from somewhere. If all doors and windows are closed you would tend to draw a slight vacuum on the area which would cause your extracted air to return down the chimney to replace that which has been extracted, and by so doing the area would be heated instead of cooled, causing your overload condition.
The air required to transfer heat needs to come from an outside source and vented again to an outside source.
