Refrigerant for the mobile air conditioner

Question:
I am very curious.
Why we use low pressure refrigerant for the car air conditioner?
Like as R12 and R134a. Why not R22 or R410a?
That is an air conditioner not a refrigerator.

Answer:
primarily due to the v. harsh conditiuons found under a bonnet(hood) causing v.high pressuresetc

you may have 200 to 300 degrees under the hood and the head pressures would be too high for the rubber hoses that holds the freon.

at 146 degrees under the hood freon F-22 would have a stand still pressure with a/c off of 365 pound psi. you would be hitting the pressure safety and testing the hoses rating of 500 pounds when running the a/c system. if engine idles in 100+ degree weather the freon will test or bust the freon hoses. now i would not know about this but if you use a 50/50 mix of F-22 and
F-12 it will work and not bust the hoses. more than 50/50 it will bust your hoses. when the price of R-134-A came down the need for a 50/50 blend went out the window.
