Need advice on air conditioning.

Question:
I intend to buy an air conditioning system forfor my room and I am hesitating between these:

Kelvinator: Made in china : 1 year warranty

National: Parts from Japan: Assembled in Malaysia: 1 year warranty

Sanyo: Parts from Japan: Assembled in Singapore: 3 year warranty
The stock is from 2001 so I am wondering if the rubber parts are not damaged

Mitsubishi: Parts from Japan: Assembled in Thailand. 3 year warranty

Anyone knowledgeable can give a piece of advice?

I am hesitating between a 24,000 BTU and 2 X 12,000 BTU

Answer:
from what i would advise you, forget the kelvinator and the sanyo. you can think about the national and the mitsubishi.

apart from the warranty. and other technical issues ( for ex the location of the expansion device, for the mitsubishi it is found inside the outdoor unit and for the national unit it is found inside the indoor unit) but you can forget about them coz they both will give the desired conditioned air.

you would like to consider practical reasons. the main difference is that with the mitsubishi you'll probably get a plastic casing ( it's fibre glass i think). and with the national unit you'll get a metal casing ( check to see if you're getting a tropicalised unit, meaning that the metal casing is galvanised which will offer you protection against corrosion)

now if you need 1x 24000 btu or 2x12000 btu.

this will depend on the size of the room. 24000 btu units will come as floor or ceiling mounted units (they have a higher air flow rate- also it's very noisy at high speed). the selection of units will depend on the shape of the room. with 12000 btu units you will have a better spread of the cool air, but they won't be blowing over long distances. the 24000 btu will blow over a longer distance ( because of the higher flow rate and its mounting position, ceiling).
