Question:
The Sears Kenmore air conditioner on the window here has wasps on it.
Maybe some tiny animal got inside, died and attracts these
wasps.
Or maybe some urchin of a kid threw some sweet syrupy liquid like kool
aid up at the window.
Does the outflow of warm air attract them as if it is a good place to
make a home?
Answer:
The outflow of warm air has an unpleasant doglike odor.
Some wasps are dead inside the air conditioner and that may attract
other wasps and flies.
Hand spraying liquid bleach got rid of the wasps around the unit for
the moment.
Why don't you just take some of the AC intake filter material, or simple
metal/fiberglass screen door stuff, and use some colored caulking to
adhere it to your outside AC vents? That should keep them out.
Once you clean the inside THOROUGHLY, protect your investment of time and
equipment with the outside screening...it'll let exhaust/heated air out
but not the wasps in.
