Question:
Home Air Conditioning Problem?
I have always had AC problems. The AC just doesn't cool the house down like it should. We have it set on 81 during the day, and 80 at night, and my bill is about $250.00 a month. We have had the energy audit done two times, all checked out OK with the AC unit, the insulation, the duct work, etc. We have had 3 different AC companies come to our house, and all say that the AC is working OK in terms of temp of air coming out, and the temp of the air going in. We have a 1900 sf home. I am so tired of the high energy bill when we sit under fans all day just to stay cool. I don't know what else to do, or who I could PAY to tell me the problem. If it isn't the AC, and it isn't the insulation or the duct work, what else could it be? It is so frustrating to go through this. I am in Florida and it is hot. I really could use any advice or help getting this resolved. House was built in 1998, uses a 3 Ton Trane AC unit.
Answer:
It sounds like you have had a lot of people look into your problem, the only thing I could suggest is hiring a TAB contractor to analyze your system. Look in the phone book under test and balance.
Try and hire a certified company - NEBB, AABC or TABB. It will not be cheap but they should be able to give you a detailed report on your entire HVAC system.
