Question:
Household Heating & Air Conditioning Question? Help?
I am supposto close on a condo tomorrow, which has been remodeled - and I feel that the heating doesn't work right. The the A/C works fine - but the Heater doesn't go on unless I turn the thermostat fan to the "ON" position. If the heater fan is in the "auto" position on the thermostat I can hear the heater click to go on but the air doesn't come out of the vent, but if I turn the fan to "auto" the heat comes out fine but the fan will stay ON all the time. Shouldn't the heater work on the "auto" setting like the A/C does? The maintenance person replaced the thermostat with a new Honeywell digital. I would appreciate and suggestions as to what could be wrong on this. Thanks
Answer:
Check with the maintenance person to see if the work was permitted -- most cities require that adjustments such as those to HVAC units are permitted and authorized through the city/state laws of energy efficiency. See if the inspectors have even been out to approve the repair. If not, it will be something to bring up with your realtor and your local Code Enforcement agency through your city hall.
