Does car air-conditioning provide clean breathing air?
The air we breathe in cars maybe be filtered for dust and other foreign particles, but what about microbes and other gasses? I was wondering because i spend a lot of time in my car breathing through the air-conditioning.

There are NO FILTERS in intake air on an automobile. None whatsoever, So regular air from outside is taken in thru a vent right below the windshield wiper and that air passes as cooling and/or a heating coil thus changing its temperature.
It would be possible for an automobile company to install some kind of filter to remove foriegn particles, dust, microbes, etc. But near impossible to remove gases from regular air.
You are breathing regular city contaminated air if you are in a large city downtown or on a crowded freeway where lots of fumes from autos and trucks are in the air.
When you drive in the country, as in central NorthDakota where there is not a city or many autos or trucks the air is probably clean. That is how it is!
