Amana central air unit

Question:
I'm considering using an Amana compressor (recommended by installer) in a new CAC install in my home. It's being billed as less as good as but less expensive than Carrier. True? Anyone have any experience with Amana other than 'fridges and dishwashers?

Answer:
Some people check the guides and buy cars, RVs, trucks, etc by the least number of service and some buy them for the features, styling, etc.
Service related differences exist between models of each manufacturer.
Manufactures have different brand names ie, GMC, Chev, Buick, etc.

Heating and A/C equipment are very similar. I believe greater differences in service requirements exist between the different models of manufacturers as they do between manufacturers themselves.

Equipment varies in features, efficiency, sound levels, comfort, etc., and it can be difficult to say which is best, because you have to compare it to a similar model within manufacturers. Comparing is very difficult, much more than buying cars, you don't get a chance to test drive an air conditioning installation.

The installation of the equipment has as much to do with service related problems as the equipment. Some brands tend to have better or worse installation contractors due to the manufacturers method of distribution.
