Installing a window air conditioner vertically

Question:
I'm planning to get a window AC. However the window on which i want to install it is a hung window with limited width.

Is it possible for me to install the AC vertically as opposed to horizontally.

Will there be any problems (like condensed water getting in the appliance or any thing else

Answer:
Yes, along with a bunch of other technical reasons.

They make narrow encasement type A/C units. Little more expensive than the standard window shaker and you'll probably have to improvise on its installation.

Yes there will be quite a few problems with this. you need to buy a casement type unit which is made for this type of window.

In dont think the compressor will work for too long being on its side.. the water will drain. and in no time the thing will fall apart as the sheet metal was not made to hold the parts on its side....go get a a/c unit that is made for the slender windowns(come high and thin)
Panasonic makes a very efficient narrow unit
