Air conditioner filter question....

Question:
At my printing business we have a couple of old window air units that use the old style filters that you cut from a piece of black filter material. Well, we need some new pieces and I haven't bought any for over 2 years.
Now I can't find anyone who still sells that kind of air conditioning filter. I know someone must still sell that stuff. I have tried 4 places including Home Depot with no luck yet.
Anyone here know of stores that sell that filter material?

Answer:
try an ACE hardware store, they sell just about everything.. if they dont have it the owner will tell you where to get it... and if that is the thin black spong type stuff you can probably go to a ladies Fabric store and buy some think foam and use that instead..

If it is the spong type material and can be washed like a rag or stong. walmarts sells it for 2 --- 16" X 20" filter for $1.69 to be cut to fit window units.

Now if it has ridges in it to hold it up right you can get them to be cut for 1 --- 16" X 20" filter at any appliance supply houses. I think they run between $3.00 to $4.00.

On most small unit you can cut 2 filter from one filter pack or 4 from the packs of 2.

these are very common and found everywhere at hardware stores and supply houses
